Train to Venice from Milan

Our travel agent booked train into Venice Mestre station. We're staying at the Westin Europa Regis. Is this the correct station for us or do we need Santa Lucia instead?

If you actually mean Westin Europa Regina it appears you would want the Santa Lucia station and not Mestre. I just did a search and did not find a Westin Regis only Westin Regina. From the map on their web site the Regina appear to be right on the grand canal. Santa Lucia would seem to be the correct station.

Susan ,if this is the case and you are booked to Mestre , be sure to obtain and Validate a local ticket to Santa Lucia . As I recall it's only a euro or so , but if an inspector is on that train or at the gate when you arrive at Santa Lucia , you will face a stiff fine . Don't chance it .

Thanks for the reply. Where do I get the voucher for the Santa Lucia station? On the train or in the train station in Milan or in Mestre?

Buy the ticket in the station , I don't think it's sold on the train . Once you have it , validate it before boarding any train that goes to Santa Lucia , it's only about a ten minute ride .

Susan, since almost all trains that go to Venezia Mestre also go to Venezia Sta. Lucia, there is an alternative you can use: buy you Venezia Mestre - Venezia Sta. Lucia before boarding the train at Milano Centrale for the same train you will be already on board (check the train number). Then, you can stay in your train and travel across the lagoon.
