When buying a ticket on Circumvesuviana from Naples to Pompeii and then Sorrento, can I buy a single ticket to Sorrento and get off/on at Pompeii or do I need to buy a ticket for each part of the journey?
Does this train require/take reservations?

No reservations - open seating. It depends on how long you plan to visit Pompeii. An open ticket is only valid for a few hours after it is time stamped (validated) so if you journey is completed within the time period (I think it is four hours) you can get off and on as often as you like. But in this situation I would buy two tickets so you don't have be concerned at the time window. Pompeii can easily suck up several hours - it is huge. Besides most you will save with one ticket might be a euro or two.
