Train to Nice,, when to book

hi , looking to take train from Paris to Nice end of july. Looked at SNCF site but can't book till 3 months out.. wondering if anyone knows if there is a site one can book earlier on, just want to be sure to get a good price and a seat,, it will be busy then I assume. Prices till end of March are about 40 euros one way,, they do vary by day etc, so also wondering, will prices in summer be alot higher even for early as possible booking( seasonal pricing?) Thanks.

Hi pat. You are on the right track. Tix become available approx 90 in advance. When it gets to 95 days out, check daily and see whether your day is available yet, then be ready to pounce. There are several large trains a day, so you should find a good fare if you are prepared. Enjoy your trip!

Pat, I'm seeing something about "iDTGV" tickets that can be booked 6 months in advance. I see these offered on the tgv-europe site. Now, I don't know how that type of ticket differ from the normal ticket. I'm hoping someone like Tim will see this and answer.

You can book iDTGV tickets up to five months in advance. Those trains have cars that are designated "zen" for people who want a quiet atmosphere and "zap" for people who want a lively atmosphere. Fares start at €19. You can book regular TGV tickets up to three months in advance. Prem's fares for Paris-Nice can be as low as €25. You can book either kind of ticket on the SNCF site. There is an allotted number of seats for each discount fare level so book ASAP to get the lowest fare.
