i saw a explanation on how to decipher a european train ticket somewheres in RS books or blogs does someone have a link or name of the book

Or, just ask us what the ticket reads. Name the language, and there's probably at least one Helpline regular fluent in it.

Train tickets from many different European countries vary a lot between two types of trains. First, the regionale-type train. These types of train stop at every station. They are like buses on train tracks. These types of tickets often do no permit seat reservations and you won't find any information on them about a train number, departure date, departure time or seat number. The tickets are good for a certain period of time (Italy 60 days) and you can ride any regional train going from the point A to point B shown on your ticket. You have to validate these tickets before boarding. Second is the nicer fast trains, you can reserve these in advance online or you can buy them at the train station and get on. Italy has their Frecci trains. France has their TGV and IDTGV trains. These tickets will have a specific train, departure date, departure time and will include your seat reservations.
