Hi, I was looking at train tickets for French travel. The on-line services seem efficient, but how do I get the ticket. I can book it, but how does the ticket get into my hands? wayne iNWI
Ah, you are from the U.S. therein lies possible problems.
I have obviously no idea what you have read so far, but read this guide to overcome - http://www.seat61.com/France-trains.htm#How to use voyages-sncf.com
If you read French, book at voyages-sncf.com. tgv-europe.com is a multi-language SNCF site. To book in English without getting bumped to the Rail Europe site which doesn't offer discount fares, choose Great Britain as your country of residence. Choose France as your ticket retrieval country. You will be able to either print your own tickets or pick them up at any SNCF station in France. To get the cheapest fares, book ASAP (up to three months allowed).
