train tickets in Italy

I have been trying to book train tickets from Milan to Venice for June on the Trenitalia website. I noticed that there is only one train scheduled on the day I want to travel. I know there was a train strike going on there last week. Would that still be affecting the train schedules? It doesn't seem right that there would only be one train going from Milan to Venice, on any given day.

Connie, There is most definitely more than one train per day between Milan to Venice. Which website are you using to research? I just checked and found listings for more than a dozen, using 6 June as the departure date. If you're having difficulty with the Trenitalia website, you might also consider using the new Italo service on that route. However, one point to note is that they depart from Milano Porta Garibaldi rather than Milano Centrale. Both trains arrive at Venezia Santa Lucia. You shouldn't have any trouble booking that online. Happy travels!

I was trying to book a ticket from Milano Centrale to Venice on Trenitalia. It would be the final leg of a trip from Aigle, Switzerland to Venice, via Sion, Switzerland and Milan, Italy. I was trying to save a little money by booking the train from Milan to Venice separately. I got the idea from the website, Man in seat sixty-one. The Switerland trains don't need to be booked in advance, but I do need reservations on the Italian train. They offer really good rates if you book in advance. I'm not sure if I can get into other staitons in Milan from Aigle. This is my first Euorean trip, so I'm a bet new to this process.

" My travel date is June 23rd, 2013." There is the problem right thee. Trenitalia has not loaded the complete schedule for dates after june 8 or 9 into the website yet. They just show that one 12:05 train, but there will be many more. Just check back every couple of days, and you should be able to get the lowest fare on the train you want from Milano Centrale to Venice.
