Arriving Brussels and training to Bruges and then back to Brussels, then train to Frankfurt. Would I be better purchasing tickets ahead of time through RailEurope ot waiting till we get to Brussels to purchase everything? ALso is the ICE train from Brussels to Frankfurt operated by German or Belgian Railways?
For Brussels to Brugge, buy them when you get there. For Brussels to Frankfurt, Deutsche Bahn operates two direct ICE trains per day, one in the morning and one in the evening. At all other times, you would take a combination of Thalys and Deutsche Bahn. For this leg, buy directly from Deutsche Bahn. Only use RailEurope if you want to pay more and have less options available to you.
Instead of advance purchasing ticket from RailEurope, advance purchase them from the German Rail website. There are online tickets there starting at €29 pP.
Thanks for the input I see DB offers a savings fare and a standard fare and it appears the savings fare is train specific. Also assume you can buy online and print your tickets ay home before leaving. Do these have to be validated in Brussels, and if so is there a machine to do it line in Italy or do you do it at the ticket window? Thanks again
No, just have the credit card you used to buy the ticket on you.
