train station in Florence - Santa Maria Vs Rifredi?

Hi, I am looking at train fares (Second class) from Florence to Naples on August 11th. Fares from Santa Maria station are minimum of $360 (2 adults, 1 child), no reservation, fast train. The same ticket is $149 for all 3, no reservation, slow train taking additional 2 hours but departing from Rifredi station . I do not mind spending additional time in train to get some much needed rest with a 8 year old child. Any issues with catching the train from Rifredi? Should I pay additional money to take the reserved seat option. We will have 3 pieces of luggage. Staying in Florence at Westin Excelsier.

Thanks!

Nice digs in Florence! Rifredi is a large commuter station northwest of SMN...about a five minute journey by commuter train from SMN. The trains run every 10 minutes or so between the two, and the fare is about one Euro pp. For the past couple of years, Trenitalia has been trying to resurrect business at some of its outlying stations by shifting more national trains to those smaller stations. Personally, if I HAD to make a specific train (especially with children in tow), I'd get the reservation. August is a busy month.
