Has anyone taken the train from Livorno to Florence lately? Is it fairly easy to do, and how long did it take you to get to Florence? We're coming into Livorno on a cruise ship and want to know if we should take a train into Florence instead of a more expensive bus.
It's easy to take the train. The train runs once an hour and the journey takes 1:10hrs. The fare is 6.70E one-way. Here's a link to a sample schedule. http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/nppPriceTravelSolutions.do?car=0&stazin=livorno+centrale&stazout=florence&datag=30&datam=03&dataa=2011&timsh=09&stazin_r=Staz_DA&stazout_r=Staz_A&timsm=08&timsm_r=08&lang=en&nreq=5&channel=tcom&npag=1&lang_r=en&nreq_r=5&channel_r=tcom&npag_r=1&x=50&y=14 I'm also attaching a map of Livorno. The train station is off the map to the right. You might need a taxi to and from the train station. http://www.planetware.com/map/livorno-map-i-liv.htm Hope your ship doesn't dock on a Monday. Most of the most popular tourist places are closed on Mondays.
