train seat reservations, France

Let me amend my earlier question: I'm using to using passes, where I need to pay a separate fee to reserve a seat. This time, I bought a ticket (on TGV) rather than using a pass. It asked me to select seats, and I did so. Does that mean I don't need to pay a separate reservation fee. Sorry, I know this is a dumb question, but public transit always scares/confuses me. Thanks

When a seat reservation is mandatory, it usually (always?) included in the price of the point-point ticket. When a seat reservation is optional, it's extra.

Whoops, I read the question wrong. Yes, if you buy a point to point ticket on a TGV the seat reservation fee is included.
