Where would I find train schedules,( times, stations etc) from Avignon to Arles,

Hi Andrew. For train schedules anywhere in Europe, use www.bahn.de. To see prices, or purchase in advance, use each country's website. But since these are likely regional trains, no reason to purchase in advance; just buy when there. Enjoy your trip!

If you go to the English-language website of the French trains, SNCF, you'll see a choice for TER trains. These are the regional trains. You'll have a choice of regions. You can get the information there.

The website you want is www.tgv-europe.com. You can put in Canada as your "Ticket Collection Country". USA citizens need to put in Canada or Great Britain or even France to avoid being switched to RailEurope. In the gray box where you enter everything, uncheck the direct trains box. The trains are most likely regional trains. You can buy these tickets online from the French but you can't print them out at home because they are regional trains. You can pick up the tickets at any staffed train station in France. You should also bring the credit card you used to purchase the tickets. That's how they identify you. However, in most cases, they don't ask for ID. But they might. You can easily buy the tickets when you get there. No seat reservations permitted and the trains don't sell out. These are generally the local trains.
