How reliable are the train schedules in France? Are they often late?

They are mostly on-time and the punctuality of TGVs is higher than that of local trains though the latter is not bad either. Snow can wreak havoc on schedules, though.

Using the SNCF online punctuality checker, I can see that the 15.50 to Le Havre that I mentioned has been late once in the last 2 weeks, by 8 minutes, and cancelled once.

We have to get back to the port at 8:00 p.m. on july 22, the very latest and we will get to the Le Havre station at 7:06 . It is fine if it is not late
