I purchaced first class tickets on line for the high speed train from Rome to Italy. I recieved one ticket for the two of us. Do I need to do anything at the train station before boarding the train such as check in and get two seperate tickets or validate the tickets prior to boarding?
I don't believe so. I just showed mine to the conductor before boarding, and he indicated "get on board."
Your ticket should show two seat reservatios so just find the correct car and get on. It is rare to see a conductor prior to boarding. Since it is a ticket for a specific train at a specific time, it is not necessary to validate the ticket prior to boarding. You only validate open tickets for regional trains that do not have seat reservations.
Following up on Frank's post, you just board the train in the coach assigned to you and as long as you are in the right seats you have nothing to worry about. No need to check in or validate. Once the train is on it's way the conductor will come through with a little handheld device, will ask to see your tickets, you show the one receipt or ticket for you both, the conductor punches in your PNR code, hands the receipt or ticket back to you and you are on your way. Easy Peasy. Jessica
Thanks eyeryone, that sets my mind at ease!
