Just wondering how long the train ride is fron Barcelona to Bordeaux.

Depends what route you take: either from Barcelona to Toulouse through the mountains and then to Bordeaux, or from Barcelona to the Basque coastal border and up the coast to Bordeaux. Neither will be very direct. Count on a full day, and there are no overnight trains.

The best timetable site for most of Europe is www.bahn.de. Click on the drop-down flag menu for English. After you get summary timetables for Barcelona-Bordeaux, click on the arrow to the left of each departure time to see the connecting points.
There is one night train route that could work. Take a EuroNight train from Barcelona Franca to Limoges-Benedictins, departing at 21:05 and arriving at 05:04. Take a regional train from Limoges-Benedictins to Bordeaux-St-Jean, departing at 06:11 and arriving at 08:58.
