We will be traveling in Italy and also from Lucerne to Florence. Looks like some of the trains require a seat reservation but I can't figure out how to make a seat reservations for two seats to be next to each other. IT does not seem to give me that option. It only gives me two window seats so we would not be together. How do I make a train reservation with two seats next to each other? Can you give me specific directions? I have tried several sites.

Where are you trying to make reservations? If you are using trenitalia, you should get two seats together assigned together if the space is available. Need a little more info.

High speed trains often have seats facing each other, sometimes with a table in between. So you could both have window seats "together".

The table option that Lee describes is always my first choice. If you're booking in 1st class, this may possibly be a table for just the two of you, but there are also tables for four in both classes.
