Even though we do have an Amex card can we use American Express Offices to make train reservations while in Italy, specifically in Florence?

I think I heard the Amex office in Florence closed recently. You can buy tickets at the station on your first couple of days in Italy, at one of the automatic machines or through a clerk there.

Or use any travel shop with the Trenitalia sticker in the window. They will not charge commission fees.

I believe Kent is correct in that someone posted within the last couple of months that they found the AE office in Florence closed. Ticket machines are easy to use but you do need to know the Italian name for your cities and the exact name of the station if more than one station at that location. And we have always found the tickets agents to be very nice. After all that is about all they do is deal with tourists since most of the locals are using the ticket machines.
