I have a railpass and am deciding if I need to make reservations for some of the connections. If it looks like reservations are not available (on raileurope.com), does that mean it has been sold out? Should I plan on another train time (I want to travel between munich and venice). I am planning on going during mid-May. Any help or suggestions would be awesome.

Apparently it just means that RailEurope is sold out. For what date are you looking?
I went to the Bahn website and looked up two trains in mid-May. On Thurs, May 15, there were seats available on the day train (11:26-18:32) out of Munich to Venice at €126 for 2. There were no couchettes available on the night train (21:03-7:37), but there were double sleepers at €305,80 for 2.
The same fares were available on Fr, May 16, in addition to 4P couchettes at €245,80 for 2 and 6P couchettes.
