We are traveling to Italy and will be on a cruise which docks in livorno, and my stepson is in college in florence.I think we should be able to take a train from livorno to florence and back for less than the cost of the bus ride to florence ($90 US each) and we are hoping that the train would give us more flexibility. I went to the website - Trenitalia to see if I could book tickets online but it seems? sold out? are some tickets held for casual travels which we can buy when we get to Italy? We are traveling in April and will be in Livorno 15/16. We hope to make the train work out as it would let us spend more time with Nick - any ideas fellow travelers?? thanks in advance :)
It's highly unlikely they are sold out.
As most if not all the trains are regional trains, you can't buy tickets for them online (that option wont be available until May 22, 2008). I don't know the cost of the ticets but based on my experience, the train tickets will be substantially less then $90 US each.
I agree with William. The "No" on the Trenitalia website is because they don't sell regional tickets online, not that they are sold out.
