Train Passes for our Trip (UK/Ireland)

I was wondering what people thought would be the best option for train passes for our trip. It seems to me it may make sense to get the Britrail Flexipass, that way we do not have to pick an exact time for each train ahead of time which would give us flexibility. We will be making the following train rides:

London Heathrow to Bath
Bath to Manchester
Manchester to Conwy
Conwy to Holyhead, then Ferry over to Dun Laoghaire
Dublin/Dun Laoghaire to Belfast
Belfast Ferry to Stranear, Glasgow, then Edinburgh

Last leg of the trip is flying back to London, then just a train ride back to the airport.

Would it be worth getting the 5 days pass that they are offering right now, and then just pay separately for the Dublin to Belfast ticket?

Thanks!

Why don't you check out the Railpasses section of this website? Or contact the Rail Department (via the link at the top of this section of the helpline).

I did read all the sections of the site, but every time you try to plug individual train rides into the UK Rail site, you get quoted a different price, and you can not get quotes for September yet. I thought someone might have a clue about what prices could be if we ended up buying tickets when we are there.

Don't worry about it though, I will just assume the flexipass always works out to be cheaper and get it.

I don't think they post farther than 90 days out. (You didn't say you weren't traveling till September.) Did you see the free day offer on the BritRail pass if you buy by June 29. That might save you some, too.

If you wait until you're in the UK to buy tickets, a pass will certainly be cheaper. Walk-up fares for longer routes are very expensive. Advance purchase tickets can be quite reasonable, but may well still cost more than the total of the best rates for your routes. For an accurate price comparison, go to the National Rail site and enter a date within 60 days from today.
