Train Pass Reads Mr. instead of Mrs.

Hello,

My husband and I have bought train passes for our upcoming European train through Rail Europe. Unfortunately, through an oversight the rail pass wrongly identifies me as Mr. K. Moffat. I am in fact Mrs. or Ms. K Moffat.

When the rail passes arrived we noticed the error right away and contacted Rail Europe. They assured us repeatedly that the salutation will not cause any issues in Europe. They have provided a letter head letter to that effect, and in fact noted that they've run into this issue many times and have not had any of their travellers experience any problems due to errors in salutations.

I am still worried so I am turning to you experienced travellers for advice - in your experience does the salutation matter? Should we spend the extra money and have the passes reprinted?

Thanks in advance for all of your advice!

Karen

Karen, no experience whatsoever, but I will bump this up in case someone else can comment. I will note however, that Mister is an English word and title, but not necessarily what other countries would use anyway.

As long as your name matches what's on your passport and the passport number on your ticket (assuming you supplied a passport number) then a salutation is unimportant.

I just looked on my Swiss Pass for travel in June and it clearly has my passport number and name but no salutation.

No one cares. If that is your biggest problem, you will have a great trip.

My experience is the same, over many years of working with rail passes. They check your name since "J. Smith" is not allowed to take the pass and use it, but they're not running your name through a security database, etc., as airlines do.
