This is a first post to this helpful message board. My wife and I are planning to participate in one of Rick Steve's Village Italy tours this summer. We would like to travel to the start of the tour (Padua) near Venice from Geneva and then return from the tour's finish (Lago d'Orta) near Milan to Geneva once again. Does it make more sense (dollars and...) to fly or to travel by train. There are limited direct flights to and from Geneva to these locations in Italy. What are the train connections like?
Thanks very much for the links. I should be able to compare time and costs and figure out what is the best fit for our time and resources.
No question fly! Too many transfers by train. if you book/pay early you should get a good fare. www.whichbudget.com.
