We will be traveling from DP to Hamburg in May...should we travel by train (if so, point to point tickets or some kind of rail pass) or rent a car? We will have an 8 year old and an infant (and the obvious luggage) with us? Both would be one way as we are flying out of Hamburg later.
If you book NOW for Paris-Hamburg (not from the Disneyland station) at www.bahn.de, you probably can get Europa-Spezial Frankreich fares for the adults on certain day routes and your children will ride free. There is also a direct night train which for which Savings-Night fares may still be available if booked on the DB site.
Click on the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner for English. Enter your departure and arrival points. At the bottom of the page click on "Add travelers" and enter everyone's ages. After you get summary timetables for Paris-Hamburg, look for the discount fares column on the far right-hand side of the page and click on "Check availability" for the route of your choice. Click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points, if any.
