We want to travel from the Alsace to Amsterdam in june with stops to tour Canadian war memorials. Anyone done this without a car?

From Alsace to Amsterdam, you would take a TGV from (say) Strasbourg to Paris Est, then a Thalys train from Paris Nord to Amsterdam. Bought in advance, non-refundable and non-exchangeable tickets will be much cheaper than last minute tickets. Paris Est and Paris Nord stations are close enough to walk between them. But that doesn't take stops into account. Which Canadian war memorials did you have in mind?

Again, like Harold, I can't help with the Canadien war memorials without knowing which ones. If I were not trying to get to specific French destinations I would cross the river from Strasbourg to Offenburg in Germany on a little local commuter train and connect to one of the couple of trains a day direct from Switzerland to Amsterdam. No reservations required.
