Is it better to purchase train ticket from Malaga to Madrid in the States or wait to buy in Malaga day of?

If you buy in advance on the RENFE website, you can get a nice discount. The ticket will be 35,10 euro instead of 87,70. If you buy there on the day of travel, the discount fares will most likely all be gone. and you will pay full price. If you cannot manage to get the transaction to go through on RENFE, there are some travel agents that will pass on the special discount fares (Web fares and Estrella fares), and add a small handling fee. I have used rumbo.es for this. Others have used Petrabax (you deal with them by phone, not directly on th ewebsite.) If you buy in advance from Rail Europe they will NOT pass on the Web fare discounts and you will pay $126.
