We are planning an excursion and taking the train from Livorno to Cinque Terre. I have found schedule and only issue is that on way back, we have a 7 minute connection. Not having visited before I am curious if that is an issue and if we miss the train, can we get a Taxi from there to port?
On the contrary, Nigel, I consider this one of the pleasures that Italy offers to casual travelers.
Patrick, please keep in mind that Italian train timetables are fictional some of the time. I would not bank on any 7 minute window. It may or may not work. Taxi service is available from La Spazia.
Where is the 7 min connection?
I'm sorry Bob had such an awful experience with Italian trains. While I acknowledge that delays sometimes happen, often outside the control of the train crew, my experience over the last several years of riding trains in the north, and centre of Italy (I have not ridden trains south of Naples) I have never come across fictitious schedules. I would also like to know where this 7 minute connection is?
Thanks for both replies. We are connecting in La Spezia
7 min are sufficient if there are no delays. Generally there aren't but you never know.
A taxi from La Spezia back to Livorno would cost you quite dearly, we are talking about 100 km.
