Train June 6: Vienna to Rothenburg. Buy now or later?

Should I buy my ticket now or wait until I get to Europe?

Looks like I could buy it now for 69 euros or so.

I assume the €69 ticket is for a Europa-Spezial Oesterreich fare from www.bahn.de. If so, you can see that tickets for the cheapest fare (€39) are already gone. If you wait until you get to Vienna to buy your ticket, the odds are very good that you'll have to pay full fare (over €100). Be aware that booking a discount fare commits you to a specific departure date and time. The ticket is non-exchangable and non-refundable.

Good answer, Tim.

Eric, although the lowest Europa-Spezial fares for that train might already be gone, there might be lower fares for other trains that day.

When you go to "check availability" and it shows a higher price, click "change connections", on the right, and it will show the lowest price still available for that connection. For June 6, I still see €59 connections still available, but no $39 connections.

As Tim said, buy the tickets now.
