Train Help needed from Spain to France

I have been trying for many hours to find the best connection in getting from Barcelona Spain to Avignon France. I had read that there was a direct train a few times a day but I have not been able to find it. Can anyone help with this connection? I have tried the sites recommend by man in seat 61 with no luck. Also I am trying to book my train (direct fast train) from Paris to Barcelona for April 3rd and also am not having luck though I though I could start booking this connection 90 days out. Thanks for any help.

Hi Sondra. For these trips, use www.tgv-europe.com; use France as ticket collection country. Tickets for both of these routes are showing for dates to March 30. Use a date in late March to see schedules and prices; then keep checking in next few days for the early April tix. Enjoy your trip!

You might explain some of the problems you are running into. You use the word "direct" at lot. Are you looking for routes that do not change trains? What does "trying to book" mean. Either you do or your don't. The bahn.de site is often easier to use for scheduling information.

Did a quick check for Wed pm of next week and saw three, no train change, between Barcelona and Avigon - about three hours.

frank, yes I am trying to not change trains. man in seat 61 said I could book France to Spain travel 92 to 90 days out. I have been trying to book the fast speed train from Paris to Barcelona for a trip 82 days out but I cannot book it as it says not found on the 4 different sites I have tried. our site just told me the train schedule is not yet released, so guess the booking 90 days ahead is incorrect for this train.

Sondra, as Bob already explained, bookings are open through to 30 March right now on www.tgv-europe.com. I just checked and I can see the daily departure from Barcelona at 18.36, arriving Avignon 22.20. In a few days or so the latest booking date will be extended to cover April 3rd - most of the online ticket systems are updated weekly or every two weeks, and that's why right now that route shows no results for any date after 30 March. Booked this far in advance the fare is €49.

Don't use any other website, just www.tgv-europe.com. Use the journey planner, specify your departure time as from 18.00, pick 30 March as your travel date, France as your ticket collection country and when the search completes you will see that 18.36 train. Keep checking back until you can see the train for 3 April, and when you do you can book it. TGV tickets can be printed at home.
