Hello travel community! I am attempting to book tickets from Zurich to Vernazza and am noticing alot of the websites do not allow for reservations online (you must call instead of buy in the particular country). Why is this? Are there any work-arounds?

Book it as separate journeys. Book Zurich to Milan on the Swiss rail site, sbb.ch. You might be offered a substantial discount---we got that last year and saved almost 500 CHF on our 4 RT tickets. Then book Milan to Vernazza on the Trenitalia site. You may have to book it only Milan to Monterosso, which is far as you can go on the IC trains with reserved seats. The tickets on the regional trains (Monterosso to Vernazza) are only available a week or so in advance, so you may have to buy that one later.

Lola, Thank you for your expertise, I was able to buy cheap tickets on both websites and will successfully be able to travel from Zurich to Vernazza hassle-free. Happy Trails!
