i have a choice to fly into zurich or munich for ultimate destination of garmisch germany. saw a post that train would take 7-8 hrs. its only 130 miles and i cant see why on earth it would be that long. is it an easy trip on a morning arrival?

It's 5.5 to 6.5 hours from Zürich to Garmisch. It's about 2.5 hours from MUC. Check your train schedules here: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

saw a post that train would take 7-8 hrs." Why wouldn't you choose to fly into Munich, it's only about an hour and a half to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

"saw a post that train would take 7-8 hrs. " Where did you see that post? An obvious misrepresentation. Even if you fly to Zurich, which you now know you don't have to do, the Bahn gives the best time to GaP at just over 5 hour.

on a general travel website.thats why i di not trust it.
it does appear that it is not as easy as a 130 mile trip would be in the U.S.
