I will be on a cruise in July docking in Warnemunde on a Sunday. I am planning on going to Berlin (yes, I know it's a long trip for a short time in the city) and would like to know what kind of train ticket I need to get to Berlin and back to Warnemunde on the same day? I've read about the Happy Weekend ticket but wasn't sure if that's the one I needed. Thanks.
The fastest and only direct connection from Warnemünde to Berlin Hbf (Central Train Station) is operated by InterConnex, a private rail company DB German Rail does not cooperate with. Therefore you'd have to check for schedule and fares with www.interconnex.info. The fare is pretty simple: It's €20.00 one-way if bought on the train, €12.00 one-way if bought online. If you used a DB connection with 1, 2 or 3 changes the cheapest roundtrip was €29 on a happy weekend ticket (compared to InterConnex's €24 round trip based on two online one-ways).
