thanks. I have found some travel times, but No prices. When will that info be available?
How far out to buy tickets OR wait and just go to the train station?

If you book well in advance on the Austrian Rail site, you can get a SparSchiene discount fare of €29.00 for Vienna-Gyor. The Austrian Rail site doesn't allow online booking for rides that begin outside of Austria. However, you should be able to book Gyor-Budapest by calling the Austrian Rail call centre. Dial 011 (US international access code) + 43 (country code for Austria) + 5-1717.

Ok, so I know you didn't ask about this, but... Orangeways bus also runs the Vienna - Gyor route. I picked a random date in February and saw a rate of 3500 HUF (about $15 USD) for a one-way ticket. There may be another dollar or two charge for luggage. I've used Orangeways in the past, and since this is a short distance (bus takes about 1h15m), it may be worth looking into. Orangeways.com

PS For the Gyor - Budapest route, check with the Hungarian Rail website: http://www.mav.hu/english/index.php You should be able to see prices and timetables. I'm not sure if you can buy online, as that feature used to be disabled to those outside of Hungary. However, a year or so ago they were talking about changing that, but I don't know if they've instituted the changes yet or not. Either way, for this leg I wouldn't worry about buying in advance unless you'll be traveling during a busy holiday time. Instead, I'd buy the tickets to Budapest once you arrive in Gyor. Good luck!

Check Deutsche Bahn website. You will find detailed timetable there. They don't show price outside Germany but it won't be much. My educated guess 20 Euro plus minus. Rick made it easy for us to get to Deutsche Bahn website. From Travelers Helpline click on Favorite Links then scroll to Rail then click on Deutsche Bahn. I just checked and found plenty of trains going to your destinations.
