Train from Venice to Munich

I booked the night train online at the bahn.de site in September for the route from Venice to Munich. The order was confirmed and I have not as of yet received those tickets in the mail. I finally got managed to get in contact with someone at Bahn via the telephone and I was informed that they had sent the tickets on 9/15 via email and she recited the correct address. Although she did speak English I didn't feel we had really connected with the fact that I was an American going to Europe for the first time and that I was beginning to go into panic mode. She said I would have to rebook the tickets and then after the trip I could ask for a refund on the unused tickets after the fact. That really doesn't make sense to me. Has anyone had the same situation arise or have any suggestions on how to proceed. I'm confused... Thanks!!!

Sharon, I just purchased 3 Dauer-Spezial tickets via the Bahn and printed them from .pdf files sent to me at the time. Did you get a user name and password when you made the purchase? If so, you can go to the Bahn website and enter it and see your purchases. If necessary, you can get the .pdf file again and print the tickets.

This particular route did not allow me to do the print option, unfortunatley. I would have so done that! The person I talked to at Bahn also said that it was not an option for me. Bummer!!!

"This particular route did not allow me to do the print option..."

"I was informed that they had sent the tickets on 9/15 via email..."

There is something wrong here, because tickets by email ARE the print option. Do you really mean email? Did you get an email from them around the 15th? Did the confirmation include an order number?

Did you get a user name and password?

And yes, I have an order number, a customer number, and I've gone on that site and gone to the cancel reservation option which then takes me to some page on their site that is in German with no option for English, so I'm really not able to read a thing there. And the customer service rep I talked to told me that canceling was not an option, which confused me more.

"the customer service rep I talked to told me that canceling was not an option".

That's probably because you purchased a SparNight (Savings Night) ticket, which is kind of like a (non-refundable) plane ticket at the lowest fare.

But you don't want to cancel, you just want to get your tickets, right?

Assuming your night train online ticket works like my Dauer-Spezial ticket, go to Bahn.de, my login, and put in your user name and password, change the pull down to "My bookings", and click "Login".

Next page, enter the order number.

On the next page it should give you the option "Show Online-Ticket (PDF)". You should be able to print from the PDF file.

Yes, indeed, I just want my tickets. The Bahn customer service rep said: " If you do not receive the tickets before you leave please buy new tickets and send them after your journey in original form for refund to the following address:" and then gave the address to return to. What I'm confused about is if the original order doesn't arrive and I purchase new ones, what if they don't get here by the time I depart, which is in 16 days. So I will have two sets of tickets, none of which I have physical possession of. Seems like they should be able to treat them like an eticket.. If I have the order number and the credit card on which I purchased them, but I guess that is not possible. Anybody had the same experience and can give me insight? THANKS!!!
