Hi, we are seniors and need to be getting from the Port of Savona to Vernazza. I have heard that we will probably have to take a train. Does anyone know about travel between the two cities. Is there a direct train? Thank you so much, Katherine
Taxi to the train station in Savona and take a train to La Spezia. Then catch another (local) train to Vernazza. You will be back-tracking to get to Vernazza, but that is the simplest way to do it.
Swan, thanks for the info. Is there a train that stops in Vernazza without going to La Spezia? Do you know what the site is to purchase tickets for the train?? Thnks Katherine
There are direct regional trains from Savona to Vernazza departing at 09:08, 09:58, and 11:10. You cannot book regional trains on the Trenitalia site unless your route includes at least one train for which a reservation is required. Whether you take one of those direct regional trains or travel at a time of day that requires changing trains, just buy your tickets at the station. See the timetables at www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html.
