Next May we will be in Rotterdam for a few days and want to take the train from Rotterdam to Brussels for a day trip. Is there a specific train line that is fast, efficient, and reliable? Thank you.

You have 2 options, both of which are reliable;
The highspeed train called Thalys or the regular intercity train.
The Thalys train is faster, but also more expensive and it only stops at Brussels Midi station. You will need to change there to a different train to reach Brussels Central train station. Total journey time is 1:29 hour
The regular intercity train makes more stops and thus is slower, but it will take you directly to Brussels central train station in 2 hours.
