Train from Rome to Naples with a rail pass

My family will be traveling from Rome to Sorrento and plan on stopping to tour the Pompeii ruins on the way. We have purchased a rail pass but have never traveled by train in Europe. I have three questions: 1) Will our rail pass cover the train from Rome to Naples 2) is a reservation necessary and 3) is there a fee associated with the reservation?

Yes, your railpass will cover the route. Yes, a reservation is necessary on the ICplus trains and EuroStar Italia trains on that route. Yes, there is a reservation fee: 3€ for an ICplus train and 15€ for a EuroStar Italia train.
