Which train is best to travel from Rome to Manarola? How long does it take and which terminal to use if I'm staying in Trastevere?

Go to trenitalia.com, plug in departure and arrival, and check the schedule yourself. Nine trains from 3.5 to nearly 5 hours. All leaving from Termini. Pick the one that best fits your schedule.

Bonnie, That's a very easy trip. The method I'd use is to take a Taxi from the Hotel in Trastevere to Roma Termini station. There are direct trains (no changes) from Termini to La Spezia, with a travel time of about 3H:45M. At La Spezia Centrale, you'll transfer to the local train which will take you to Manarola and that trip is only about 11-minutes. Depending on which train you choose, the total trip time will be about 4 hours. The current second class fare ranges from €38.30 to 50.80 (again, depending on train). On the trip north from Rome to La Spezia, you'll know you're getting close when you can see the coast. It's a beautiful trip! Happy travels!
