Train from Rome Airport to Florence

I leave next week for my first visit to Italy. After a long flight I will get on a train to Florence. I seem to still be confused on which train to take. I want to get there fast and comfortable. Is there really that much difference between 1st and 2nd class? Thanks

Certainly your first leg will be the Leonardo Express from the Airort to Rome Termini. From there, it really is no difference between First and Second class, for the trip, I would take second class.

There is a bigger difference between type of train. The Premium trains are faster and cost more than regional or intercity(IC) train. The Premium trains also may have a more frequent schedule, meaning to catch a cheaper train may mean a wait.

As for difference, a Regional train will be about 4 hours and less than 20 euro. An IC train about 3 hours and more like 30 euro. The premium train will be 1.5 hours and close to 50 euro. All of this is for 2nd class or general seating, first class would be a step up and more euro.
