Train from Paris l'EST to Koblenz HBF-RR Station, Germany

Following 8 days in Paris the first part of June, we need to take a train to Koblenz where we are renting a car for two week trip in Germany. Where can I go for a train schedule between these two countries? Thanks, Dorsey

Search the timetables at bahn.com, the site for the German railway. I am taking this exact trip later in the summer, the best trains connect in Germany (some in Mannheim, some in other cities) and have a TGV for the first trip from Paris to the connecting city, then different trains on to Koblenz.

I believe you can even print out tickets for this trip via email, even though it starts in France and you'd order from the German site.

Let me know how it goes since I will be buying the same trip later on!

Bahn.de is a cumbersome way to get to the German Rail schedule page. Go here, instead.

Thanks for the posts. I tried the sites mentioned with a departure from Paris,
France to Koblenz, Germany and received a fare of over 200 Euros. Isn't this too much? Do I need to specify a departure gare in Paris and a arrival gare in Koblenz? Thanks, Dorsey

Dorsey - I am not as knowledgable as Lee or Tim, but I will try to provide some assistance.

I was able to find a fare of € 140,20 for 2 from Paris to Koblenz. Using Thayls from Paris Nord to Koln the fare is € 106,00 for 2. Taking a regional train from Koln to Koblenz the fare is € 34,20 for 2.

I'm not sure if this helps. The big thing I have noticed about train fares is the earlier you can book your travel the cheaper the fares seem to be.

**** EDIT ****

Dorsey - I forgot to ask when are you planning on taking your trip? Rereading your post are you talking about June 2010, or June 2011?

On the DB site the standard 2nd class fare for a TGV from Paris to Saarbrücken and a regional train from there to Koblenz is 103 EUR.

If you book well in advance (up to 92 days allowed), you can get a Europa-Spezial Frankreich Savings fare as low as 39 EUR for that specific route.
