Train from Naples to Venice

I'm looking to travel from Naples to Venice with a stopover in Bologna for a couple hours. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what kind of select pass I'm going to buy. This is the only long train journey in Italy. The Amica, 2nd class fare for train from Naples to Venice is approximately 74 euros. Would this be a train journey worth using a day on a pass or would the supplements and reservations fees cost too much. One train is an "A" train and the other is an "ES".

Thanks in advance!

Shauna, the Alto Velocita (A) train and the ES are both Eurostar trains. On the Amica fares, they have to be purchased by midnight on the day before travel. Also they are limited and may not be available when you purchase. Supplemental fees should not exceed 10Euro for this journey.

The passholders reservation fee on other Trenitalia trains is 3-4 euros, but on ES trains it is 15 euros. If you buy a pass, you will pay 30 euros total for Naples-Bologna and Bologna-Venice because by stopping over each leg will require a separate reservation.

Since this is your only long train ride in Italy, point-to-point tickets for all your rides should be cheaper than a pass, particularly when you include those hefty reservation fees.

Thanks!

This will be the only long train ride in Italy .. I have 4 or 5 other train rides in other countries. I'm just wondering if those fees would make it worth adding Italy to my pass, therefore having a 5 country pass instead of a 4 country pass, thus increasing the price of the pass.

It looks like even with $20 of fees, it would still be worth using a day.
