Train from Murren to Munich

Is there a train from Murren to Munich? If yes, how can I find the route and schedule? I have looked online at Eurail and cannot find...Thanks!

I believe you have to take a lift or lift/rain combination down to Lauterbrunnen and then would take the train from Lauterbrunnen to Munich. I don't think there are any direct trains so you will likely have to make at least 3 train changes along the way, depending upon your chosen route. I have been searching this myself because I will be traveling from Murren to Munich in September. I used the bahn.com website to search out the train options. The website is very easy to use and you can easily search out the different routes, time schedules, maps, train types and compare pricing. If you are able to commit to a specific train you can often take advantage of savings fares which are considerably less. You can book your ticket online and print the ticket yourself. Happy travels.

Tina, you can see this run on the German train website (www.bahn.de). You can even buy the ticket online from this site as your journey will end in Germany. Here is a LINK to an example of what I see on the www.bahn.de website. I've opened up the run departing Muerren at 7:06 so that you can see the transfer points. If you book early and are willing to accept a non-refundable ticket, you can get some really good fares. There are later runs as well.

There is an additional transfer between Mürren and Lauterbrunnen that is not shown on either bahn.de or the Swiss site rail.ch. You leave Mürren on a train from the little BLM station. This tales you the short distance to Grutschalp, where you change to a large cable car for the descent to Lauterbrunnen. Then you walk over and board the train, usually waiting there, for Interlaken Ost. Between Mürren and Interlaken Ost you do not have to worry about platform numbers or transfer times; just follow the crowd from one conveyance to the next ( just don't follow the people at Lauterbrunnen who cross over the tracks to board the little red train that goes up to Wengen!) Once you are at Interlaken you start having a choice of routes to Munich. There are no direct train, so you will have at least one transfer, at Karlsruhe as shown on the link Larry posted, or maybe at Zürich ( fewer direct trains there). Pick the route you like and you can buy the tickets on bahn.de, using Larry's link.

"I have looked online at Eurail and cannot find" Eurail (www.eurail.com) does not have routes and schedules. They are a consortium of the national rail companies created to package and market rail passes. Do you mean RailEurope? Don't use them for routes and schedules. They are a travel agency, and the only show a limited number or trains, only those for which they sell tickets, usually the most popular and expensive connections, and they mark them up over what you would pay in Europe. By using the German Rail (Bahn) website and putting in "Muerren BLM" to "Munich", I found connections, some with discounted advance purchase fares. You can get tickets for a fast route by putting in "Interlaken Ost" to Munich and "Lindau" as a stopover, but you would have to pay for Mürren to Lauterbrunnen and Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken separately.
