We will be in Munich in April and would like to take the most scenic train route to Florence. We are thinking we should go out of our way a bit to check out the Swiss Alps. Any suggestions for a route? Thanks!

Hello Holly. What amount of time do you want to be in Switzerland ? And, do you want to see Swiss Alps that are considered to be the most scenic ?

Our primary intent is to get from Munich to Florence, but we thought we would take the train to get some good views along the way. We only have time to spend one day on this segment. Although, perhaps we should cut one day out of our Amsterdam to Munich 6 day driving tour and stop midway from Munich to Florence for a quick visit. If we do keep it to one day...are the mountins in the Tirol area as grand as the mountains in the Swiss area south of Zurich? Any suggestions are welcome.
