Meeting a friend in Garmisch that's coming into Munich. Should she purchase point to point tickets if traveling from Munich - Garmisch, then Garmisch - Munich (possibly from Garmisch - Fussen - Garmich)? This is over a 4-5 day period.

Depending on how you distribute the days of travel, point-point tickets, almost certainly - no. As long as you travel after 9 AM on workdays, a hop on/off Bayern-Ticket, for €21 single, €29 for 2-5 people is almost certainly less expensive. Up-date: a point to point ticket for 1 person from Munich airport to Garmisch-Partenkirchen is €25,20. A Bayern-Ticket Single is €21. BTW, unless you take an even more out of the way route, any all rail route, from Garmisch to Füssen, goes through Munich. However, if you have a Bayern-Ticket, there are other, shorter bus-train alternatives (like Rail to Reutte or Pfronten, bus to Füssen).
