train from Munich airport to Passau

My travel agent purchased DB train tickets for me but I don't find on any terminal map where the actual train platform is. I'm not a very experienced traveler so I asked for a train that left directly from the airport rather than the bus to the main train station in Munich. Any help?

Hopefully someone with direct experience will be along soon.
In the meantime, there seems to be two S Bahn trains to the main station doiwntown.
But there is also a UFEX train from an airport station between T1 and T2 which goes to Freising, where you can get the train to Passau.

What does your ticket say about routing?

Please note that you cannot go directly from the airport to Passeau, as you must go into Munich first to the main train station where you will change trains to your final destination.

That said, the train station at the airport is located underground, directly between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 in the central area known as the Munich Airport Centre (MAC). It is easily accessible from both terminals.

The tickets should say where exactly you are going. Do you have a changeover someplace, for example in Landshut? When are you leaving?

The ticket will say that it is from Munich Flughafen to Passau. It may also include trainbinding, in which case some train numbers may be listed.

So what does the ticket show? If it is a normal flexible ticket it will show origin and destination and at least a day of validity. It is up to you in that case to find out which trains you need to take, which you can do on www.bahn.de

IF the ticket has trainbinding you must take the trians listed.

Anyway, at the airport, just follow the signs.

The fastest route is a regional train directly from the airport to Landshut , then change to a regional train to Passau. This is only available currently every 2 hours at 16 past the odd hours (9:16, 11:16 etc).
This would be with a Bayern Ticket costing 34 EUR for one person, or 44 EUR for 2 people. You don't need a travel agent to buy these for you, you can can buy them out of ticket machines at the airport train station.

The regional train to Landshut goes every hour at 16 past the hour, it is the connection to Passau that is every 2 hours, so instead of hanging around the airport, you could take the next train to Landshut, and look around the pretty town for an hour waiting for the connection if you end up on the 10:16 train from the airport. You are not bound to any particular train, you can ride any regional train in Bavaria for the day with the Bayern Ticket after 9 am weekdays, anytime weekends.

I know I could have bought tickets there but my very nervous, hoh husband wants everything in hand before we leave our house. This was a big thing to get him to travel out of the USA and I wanted to be on top of all issues. Thanks for all replies .

Ask your travel agent what he/she bought for you. If it is indeed a Bayern Ticket, you can take any combination of regional trains and buses that get you from the airport to Passau. Easiest is the single connection route I gave you. You can see your options at https://int.bahn.de/en. Use Munich Airport T as your start point, and click on "Mode of Transport", then "Local Transport Only" from the drop-down menu. Better yet, download the DB app and have real time info when you land in Munich.
