We are supposed to arrive in Munich on 22/9/12 at 10:00 AM. DB Bahn has a variety of departures and we like the 14:35 but see no savings fares. there is an 11:44 saver for 1/2 price but we are not confident we will pass Customs and take the S-Bahn in time. Would it just make more sense to wait until we arrive at the Munich train station to purchase the tickets? Do we buy our Monday departure from Ljubljana to Zagreb when we arrive in Ljubljana? Are there any other savings types now rather than daparture date?

The reason you are not seeing a German Rail discount ticket for 13:44 (the departure time from the airport) is that that connection includes a segment entirely outside Germany (Villach to Ljubljana), and German Rail does not sell tickets online that include that segment. However, you can get online discount tickets from Munich Flughafen to Villach. You can then buy the ticket in Villach or get the ticket from Villach to Ljubljana online from Austrian Rail (www.oebb.at). You should easily be able to get to the S-Bahn station at the airport within 1h44min after landing, but the real danger is that the flight will be late landing and you won't have that much time. If you buy your tickets after landing, you'll have to pay full price.
