What is the best way to travel by train from Montpellier to Paris? So confused! Have looked at Rail Europe, Euro Railways & TGV.
Aaauuuggghhh!!!
All those sites are selling tickets for the same trains. Pick whichever has the lowest fares. (But be aware that the very cheap Prems tickets are valid only for a specific train and if you miss it you pay full fare.)
Forget Rail Europe. Their fares are inflated. Depending upon the departure time, the standard 2nd class fare ranges from €93 to €112. If you book well in advance (up to three months allowed) at tgv-europe.com, you can get a cheap Prem's fare. There are some tricks to booking on the site in English without being bumped to the Rail Europe site. Tell us your travel date and we'll see what discount fares, if any, are still available and how to book them.
Tim, we would be traveling on Sat, July 14th. Thanks!
The lowest discount fares are gone for 14 July, but there still are some available at other levels. Go to tgv-europe.com. Choose Great Britain as your country of residence. When you're asked if you want to go to the UK Rail Europe site, choose to stick with tgv-europe.com. Choose France as your ticket retrieval country. You should be given the option of printing your own tickets. If not, choose to pick up your tickets in a French station.
