Train from Milan to Venice St Lucia

I am flying into MXP on a Saturday. I have found out that there are fewer direct trains to Venice on Saturday.
Here is my question:
When we land at 1:10 pm, de-board the plane, go thru customs and take shuttle, which direct train makes the most sense:
departure from Milan Porto Girbaldi to Venice St. Lucia - direct with no stops (2:27 min)
16:13. #9743. OR 18:13 #9753 ?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. We will have already been flying all night long, so we will be weary.
We have a hotel reservation for that Saturday night in Venezia St Lucia, which is why I want to try to get there on Saturday.

Two minor points: it takes about an hour just to get to Milan from the airport. The trains you indicate do in fact make several stops between Milan and Venice. You have to look at the details on the Trenitalia site.

Italo also has direct trains (2 hrs 28 min) from Milano Centrale to Venezia St. Lucia at 18:35 and 19:35 on Saturdays.

Why do you want to go from Porta Garibaldi? What I have done is simply buy tickets to Venice when I arrived at the Malpensa train station. Looks like you could get a train from the airport to Centrale at 14:13 connecting to a Freccia to Venice at 15:45, getting you to Santa Lucia at 18:12. You won't really know until you land, deboard, clear immigration, get your luggage and walk to the station. You might pay a little more, but you will not be left waiting around for a later prebooked train.

Hi Laura. Good that you are planning ahead. My suggestion: don't buy this train tix in advance; it would lock you in to a specific train, and only save a modest amount. Trying to guess / predict what time your plane will arrive and when you will get thru immigration is fruitless and just adds unnecessary stress. Before you go, get the Trenitalia app or set up an account on Trenitalia website. Then just buy your ticket at airport when you are ready; from app, website, or ticket machine, whichever is easiest. Note you can buy one ticket from airport to Venice; just put Malpensa to Venezia SL. Have a great trip!

Small clarification - you will be staying in Venezia; ‘Venezia Santa Lucia’ is only the name of the city’s train station.
