I know I can take the train from Milan to Bolzano, then the bus to Castelrotto but I wondered if instead of back tracking to get to VENICE, is it possible to take a train from Castelrotto to Cortina and then train or bus down to Venice? Thanks
It doesn't look like there are any trains from Castelrotto to Venice. There is a bus from Cortina to Calalzo di Cadore, then a three hour train from there to Venice. Not sure how you get from Castelrotto to Cortina. Castelrotto is closer to Bolzano; maybe they expect you to take the long way around.
Thanks Lee, I know I can get to Venice from Castelrotto by back tracking Bolzano then Verona and on to Venice. I just wonder if I could see more of the Dolomites by going on to Cortina and down to Venice. I'll look into the Calalzo Di Cadore bus....it might be a beautiful ride.
An alternative would be to go North from Bolzano, connecting in Fortezza to San Candido. From there you can catch a bus to Cortina and then on to Venice. There is an express bus every morning from Cortina to Venice.
Thanks Jeff
