I am trying to go from Milan Malpensa to Florence and I arrive at 17:45. I am worried about the connection times and missing the last train to Florence. Does anyone have any information or can make a recommendation?

John, there are buses from Malpensa airport to the main station in Milan, but the only train from Malpensa to Milan is a private line, the Malpensa Express, that goes from the airport via Saronno to Cadorna station. There are two trains per hour and the trip takes about 40 min.

Take the bus to Milan Centrale. You should get there in plenty of time to catch a train to Florence.

According to Trenitalia.com, the last EuroStar connection from Milan Central to Flornce is at 20:00. That gives you 2:15 to get off the plane, get the bus, get into Milan, buy the ticket, etc. As the website I gave you shows, there are two bus companies running 2 or 3 buses per hour into Milan Central and it takes 50 min. As long as your flight is not delayed, you should make it.

After the 20:00 pm train there's a night train that leaves at midnight. Wouldn't be very appealing, but it's there.
