We were originally going to take the Gatwick Express from Victoria Station to the airport but it sems quite expensive. Is it possible to take another train that is more resonable & yet still easy to do with luggage? Our flight leaves at 2pm.

The Gatwick website www.gatwickairport.com has a link to information on getting to/from the airport, including the rail and bus carriers.

Try Southern Rail. You didn't say what day or how many traveling. If you are traveling on a weekend it would work out. Its especially good if you have 3 or 4 of you traveling together. Here's the website: http://tinyurl.com/2arjue

I traveld the express the first of March...about $32 US, one way, but well worth it. The trip ends inside the airport. There is an elevator if you have bulky luggage that takes you up to the main terminal area. Luggage carts available (at a price).
You can also take the overland rail, cheaper, longer, but about as convenient.
