Train from Lausanne to Paris

Hi, I just bought a ticket from Lausanne to Paris. Is there a train i need to transfer to when i cross the border? How long does it takes typically to clear custom, have our VAT chop and board the train? If we missed the train, we need to buy another ticket or board the next train? Thanks

Hi Johnson. Depending on which train you booked, you may or may not make a stop / change of trains, but there is no customs or other border activity when crossing from Swiz to France by train; don't know what you mean by VAT chop. Enjoy your trip.

Lausanne to Paris is via a direct high-speed TGV train. These trains require reservations, so if you miss your connection, your ticket will be worthless if you purchased the restricted discount fare. If you paid full-price, you typically can exchange your tickets for another departure....but you'll have to go to the ticket windows to make this arrangement.

Hi,
Thanks all. I bought a ticket that indicate direct train between Lausanne and paris. As such will there still need to get off the train for custom clearance? The VAT is the tax rebate for purchase. I understand you need to chop it before leaving switzerland to get tax rebate.

There are no immigration or customs checks. You'll have to take care of the VAT stuff before you board the train.
